One of my favorite DTN On Air memories was going to dinner before a show with Bryce, a DTN analyst, that night's guest and a couple others. Once a year we allowed the topic be sports - a college football preview, I believe. Every Wednesday, someone knowledgeable from agriculture, Extension, markets or weather would join Bryce in the DTN studio for an hour-long chat about an ag-related topic. When DTN developers came up with a color satellite unit, Bryce was part of a group of newsroom employees, including current DTN Multimedia Editor Nick Scalise and former newsroom employee Jeff LaGrone, who designed our talk show DTN on Air. And, of course, ag weather itself includes a lot of market analysis: How is this weather likely to affect crops and therefore the markets? He started writing weather forecasts and commentary but was also a grains analyst when needed. For those who are in the predictions game, many had the Longhorns winning out months ago. In the past 24 hours, three crystal ball/future casts have been released, all in favor of the Aggies. The public is just waiting for Anderson to drop the announcement. The four-star safety has made it known Texas and Texas A&M are battling for his signature and a decision has been made. Jimbo Fisher may be reeling them in come this weekend, with the commitment of Bryce Anderson imminent. Sure, two recent defensive commitments in Derrick Brown and Eoghan Kerry are nice, but potentially losing a key head-to-head battle to Texas A&M is brutal. As the never-ending football calendar moves into the month of August, things are still not going well for Texas on the recruitment front.
